Mass Shooting Leaves Two Dead and 14 Injured in Montgomery, Alabama

Authorities in Alabama have reported a tragic mass shooting in Montgomery on Saturday night, resulting in at least two fatalities and 14 injuries. Among the deceased was a woman, while two children were among those injured, one of whom is in critical condition, according to Montgomery Police Department (MPD) Chief James Graboys.

The incident occurred in downtown Montgomery, a bustling tourist district, shortly after a football game between Tuskegee University and Morehouse College, both historically black universities in the state.

The violence erupted when a confrontation between two rival groups escalated into a gun battle around 11:30 p.m. The shooters fired recklessly into the crowd, injuring bystanders in the process.

Graboys described the shooters as showing blatant disregard for the safety of those around them. Despite the chaos, no arrests have been made yet, and 12 of the 14 victims remain hospitalized.

“In total, three victims remain in life-threatening condition, and nine sustained non-life-threatening injuries,” said MPD Lt. Tina McGriff to the Montgomery Advertiser.

The city of Montgomery is reeling from this senseless act of violence, and authorities are working diligently to bring those responsible to justice and provide support to the victims and their families.
