Tragic Incident: Farmer Killed by Water Buffaloes in Oklahoma
A devastating incident unfolded on a farm in Jones, Oklahoma on Friday evening, resulting in the tragic death of a farmer who was attacked by two water buffaloes. The victim, identified as Bradley McMichael, was fatally injured while tending to the animals inside their enclosure at a farm located at 7501 North Henney Road.
Authorities from the Jones Police Department and the Jones Fire Department responded to an emergency call at approximately 8:35 p.m., but faced challenges accessing the victim due to the aggressive behavior of the water buffaloes. In order to reach McMichael, one of the animals had to be euthanized to ensure the safety of the responders.
Upon gaining entry to the enclosure, first responders discovered McMichael had sustained severe lacerations that proved to be fatal. Subsequent investigation confirmed that the water buffaloes were responsible for the farmer’s tragic death.
It was revealed that McMichael had recently purchased the water buffaloes at a livestock auction the day before the incident. Authorities believe he became trapped inside the enclosure while attending to the animals, leading to the fatal attack.
The office of the chief medical examiner took custody of McMichael’s body for further examination, as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death continues.
This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of working with livestock and the importance of taking necessary precautions to ensure safety on the farm.
