A devastating car crash south of Denver, Colorado has resulted in the loss of five lives, including three children, according to authorities.
The tragic incident occurred at 4:39 p.m. on Monday afternoon near Franktown, Colorado, as reported by the police. The Colorado State Patrol rushed to the scene of a three-vehicle collision involving a black Toyota hatchback, a tan Ford sedan, and a black Ford pickup on Highway 83 at mile marker 40.5, close to Russellville Road.
According to authorities, “The Toyota was traveling southbound on Highway 83 when the driver lost control and veered off the right shoulder. The vehicle then reentered the roadway, rolled onto the northbound lane, and the driver was ejected.”
“The Ford sedan was heading northbound when it was struck head-on by the Toyota. Subsequently, the Toyota continued southbound in the northbound lanes and collided with a Ford pickup, resulting in minor damage,” added the CSP.
Tragically, the driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene, as confirmed by the police.
The Ford sedan was occupied by an adult driver and five juveniles. Regrettably, the driver and three of the juveniles lost their lives in the crash. The remaining two juveniles were airlifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Fortunately, the driver of the Ford pickup escaped unharmed, according to CSP.
