6 dead after US strike in Caribbean targets alleged drug-running boat: Hegseth

The U.S. military continues its aggressive campaign against drug cartels in the Caribbean, with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announcing the 10th strike on a vessel suspected of carrying drugs. This latest strike resulted in the deaths of six individuals, bringing the total death toll of the operation to at least 46 people.

Hegseth revealed that the targeted vessel was operated by the Tren de Aragua gang and the strike took place in international waters. This marks the first strike conducted at night, showcasing the military’s commitment to combating narco-terrorism in the region.

The pace of these strikes has intensified in recent days, with three strikes occurring in one week. Two of the strikes expanded the operation to the eastern Pacific, demonstrating the military’s willingness to target drug trafficking activities across a wider area.

A video of the most recent strike was shared on social media, showing a small boat being hit by a long, thin projectile, resulting in a powerful explosion. The video captures the intensity of the strike, but the aftermath of the explosion remains obscured as the video ends.

Hegseth’s post on social media emphasized the military’s determination to dismantle drug trafficking networks and treat narco-terrorists like Al-Qaeda. The message is clear – no matter the time of day, the military will track down and eliminate threats to national security.

The aggressive stance taken by the U.S. military in targeting drug cartels highlights the gravity of the situation in the region. With continued strikes and a strong message of deterrence, the military is making it clear that drug trafficking will not be tolerated in the Western Hemisphere.
