7 shot in 4-hour Thanksgiving Eve burst of violence across 3 NYC boroughs: cops
Seven individuals in New York City were involved in separate shooting incidents during a violent four-hour period on Thanksgiving Eve in three different boroughs, according to police reports.
The first shooting occurred at around 7:20 p.m. in downtown Brooklyn, where two teenagers were shot at Fulton and Jay streets. An 18-year-old man sustained gunshot wounds in the left leg and left elbow, while an 18-year-old woman was shot in the right leg. Both victims were taken to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and were reported to be in stable condition.
Shortly after, at 9:40 p.m., two men aged 22 and 23 were shot on Ryer Avenue near the Grand Concourse in the Fordham Heights area of the Bronx. The older man was hit in the left foot, while the younger victim was struck in the right thigh. They were both transported to St. Barnabas Hospital and were listed as stable.
Around 11:15 p.m., a 24-year-old man was grazed in the head by two masked suspects in Queens. The incident took place on 30th Drive near Vernon Boulevard in Astoria, and the victim was taken to Mount Sinai Queens in stable condition. The suspects fled the scene in a black Jeep.
Minutes later, two more individuals were shot inside a deli in the Bronx. A 22-year-old man was shot in the shoulder, and a 25-year-old woman was struck in the torso at Yaya Deli Grocery on Melrose Avenue near East 160th Street in Melrose. Both victims were taken to Lincoln Medical Center and were reported to be in stable condition.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with any of the shootings, and the motives behind the incidents are still under investigation. The string of shootings on Thanksgiving Eve has left the city on edge, with authorities working diligently to ensure the safety and security of residents in the Big Apple.
