A Google Pixel Smart Ring Would be my Dream Launch in 2026
Smart rings have continued to gain popularity over the past year, with new models hitting the market from brands like Circular and RingConn. However, one notable absence in the smart ring space is Google. Despite my previous article on this topic being published a year ago, my sentiments remain unchanged.
The Samsung Galaxy Ring faced some issues in 2025, with reports of a swollen battery causing one user to be stopped from boarding a flight. This incident occurred at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit, highlighting the importance of quality control in smart ring production. While we didn’t see a Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 release, other brands like Oura introduced the Ceramic Edition of the Ring 4, which I have been testing and find to be a solid option.
The Oura Ceramic Edition is the closest thing to a Pixel Ring we’ve seen so far. Its sleek design and functionality make it a standout in the market, although the high price point and mandatory monthly subscription may deter some users. This is where Google has an opportunity to step in and create a competitive smart ring leveraging its experience with wearables like the Pixel Watch and Fitbit.
Google’s late entry into the smart ring arena allows it to learn from the mistakes of others and tailor its product to meet user needs. Key areas for Google to focus on include design durability, battery life optimization, and pricing. A Google Pixel Ring could potentially offer a seamless integration with other Google devices like the Pixel Watch, enhancing the user experience.
While there is limited information available about a possible Pixel Ring launch in 2026, I remain hopeful that Google will enter the smart ring market. By offering a premium product without the need for a monthly subscription, Google could carve out a niche for itself in the wearable tech space. Additionally, launching a Pixel Watch A-series could further solidify Google’s presence in the wearables market.
Overall, the potential for a Google Pixel Ring is exciting, and I look forward to seeing how Google incorporates its expertise in wearables to create a standout product in the smart ring category.
