A24 Expands U.K. Office by Hiring Co-CEOs of Lookout Point

A24 Expands its U.K. Office with New Senior Executives
A24 continues to make waves in the U.K. entertainment industry by poaching top talent from local companies. Laura Lankester and Will Johnston, co-CEOs of Lookout Point, a BBC Studios-owned production company known for its prestigious dramas like “Les Miserables,” “A Suitable Boy,” and “War & Peace,” are the latest executives to join A24 as the company expands its international TV operations.
The duo will be joining a team in the U.K. led by Piers Wenger and Rose Garnett, who were previously hired from the BBC in a major move in 2022. Lankester and Johnston will depart from their current positions this autumn but will continue to work on projects like Netflix’s adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice” and BritBox’s “Tommy and Tuppence” for Lookout Point and BBC Studios.
A24’s U.K. expansion aligns with the success of its British series slate, which includes upcoming projects like “Major Players” for Channel 4, “The Husbands” for Apple TV+, and “First Day on Earth” for BBC/HBO. The company is also working on new seasons of existing shows like “Dreaming Whilst Black” and “Such Brave Girls,” as well as adaptations of “Magnolia Parks” and a series about Liverpool FC.
“We are excited and invigorated to join A24,” Lankester and Johnston said in a joint statement. “Their commitment to creative excellence is inspiring, and we look forward to collaborating with Piers and Rose. Our time at Lookout Point has been incredibly formative, and we are grateful for the opportunities we have had.”
In a statement to Variety, BBC Studios head of scripted Mark Linsey wished Lankester and Johnston well in their new roles, noting that Lookout Point remains in good creative health with several projects in development. He expressed excitement for the next chapter of the company’s story and thanked the departing CEOs for their contributions.
Lankester’s previous work as an exec producer at Lookout Point includes hit shows like “Gentleman Jack” and “A Suitable Boy,” while Johnston has a background in script editing and development at the BBC and Working Title Films. Together, they bring a wealth of experience to A24’s U.K. office and are poised to lead the company to new heights in the international TV market.
