Abreu hits grand slam and inside-the-park homer and lifts the Red Sox over the Reds 13-6

The Boston Red Sox put on a show on Monday night, defeating the Cincinnati Reds 13-6 in a high-scoring affair at Fenway Park. The highlight of the game came from Wilyer Abreu, who had a remarkable performance with a grand slam and an inside-the-park solo home run.

The Red Sox wasted no time getting to Reds’ starter Chase Burns, as they exploded for seven runs in the first inning, knocking the young phenom out of the game early. Trevor Story added to the early onslaught with a three-run homer in the first inning, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

Jarren Duran also contributed to the Red Sox’s offensive outburst with a solo home run in the sixth inning. Boston’s bats were alive and well, as they picked up their second win in nine games.

On the other side, the Reds tried to mount a comeback with Austin Hays leading the charge. Hays had a two-run triple and a solo homer, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the early deficit.

Burns, the highly-touted prospect selected second overall in the draft, had a rough outing, giving up seven runs in just one out. Despite his struggles, Burns made history in his debut by striking out the first five batters he faced.

Red Sox starter Garrett Crochet was solid on the mound, retiring the first 10 batters he faced before giving up three runs in the fourth inning. Crochet finished with nine strikeouts in six innings of work, earning his eighth win of the season.

Abreu stole the show with his grand slam and inside-the-park home run, becoming just the sixth player in MLB history to achieve this feat. His inside-the-park homer was the first by a Red Sox player at Fenway Park since Jacoby Ellsbury in 2011.

Looking ahead, the Reds will send Brady Singer to the mound to face Richard Fitts in the middle game of the series on Tuesday.

Overall, it was a dominant performance by the Red Sox, who showcased their offensive firepower and secured a much-needed win. Fans can expect more excitement as these two teams continue their series at Fenway Park.
