The report, released alongside the company’s earnings, highlighted the U.K. breakout hit “Adolescence” as the top TV show, while the action-comedy “Back in Action” starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz emerged as the most-viewed movie.
The Engagement Report, which covers 99% of Netflix member viewing from January to June 2025, measures engagement based on total hours viewed divided by runtime.
One notable finding from the report is that over one-third of all viewing on Netflix came from non-English language titles. Additionally, 10 out of the 25 most-watched series in the first half of the year were non-English.
Among the top TV shows, “Squid Game,” the South Korean hit series, garnered 231 million views across its three seasons in the first half of the year. Another standout was the drama “Adolescence,” which claimed the top spot with 145 million views. Other popular U.K. series included “Missing You,” “Black Mirror” Season 7, and “Dept. Q” Season 1.
WWE content, which premiered on Netflix in January, amassed over 280 million view hours, showcasing the platform’s diverse range of offerings.
Netflix also highlighted the enduring popularity of older titles, with series like “Orange Is the New Black,” “Ozark,” and “Money Heist” continuing to draw significant viewership. In the movie category, films like “Red Notice,” “Leo,” and “We Can Be Heroes” stood out with over 20 million views each.
Notable Netflix films that captured audience attention included “Back in Action,” “Tyler Perry’s STRAW,” “The Life List” starring Sofia Carson, and “Nonnas.” Non-English language films like “Exterritorial,” “Counterattack,” “iHostage,” “Ad Vitam,” “K.O.,” “Bullet Train Explosion,” and “Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins” also found success on a global scale.
