Mary Hart, former host of “Entertainment Tonight,” thanked Di Bona for his support during her audition for the groundbreaking show in 1982.
The tribute took place on the Manhattan Beach soundstage where “America’s Funniest Home Videos” is filmed, with speakers including current host Alfonso Ribeiro, Disney TV executive Rob Mills, and actress Alyson Hannigan. Notable figures like Tom Bergeron, Henry Winkler, and Jay Leno sent recorded messages to honor Di Bona.
Emcee Michael Burger shared personal anecdotes about working with Di Bona, praising his knack for casting talent and his mentorship of young professionals. Ribeiro credited Di Bona for believing in him as the host of “AFV” despite his lack of hosting experience, emphasizing Di Bona’s wise advice on connecting with audiences.
