Alia Bhatt Teams With Prime Video on Rom-Com ‘Don’t Be Shy’

Prime Video has given the green light to a new original romantic comedy titled “Don’t Be Shy,” produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under their Eternal Sunshine Productions banner. Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani are also on board as co-producers for the project.

The film, written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, follows the story of Shyamili “Shy” Das, a 20-year-old whose well-organized life starts to unravel when unexpected events throw everything out of control. Mukerji, known for her work on popular Bollywood films like “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani,” “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil,” and “Brahmastra Part One: Shiva,” brings her expertise to this coming-of-age tale.

Nikhil Madhok, director and head of originals at Prime Video India, expressed excitement about collaborating with the Bhatt sisters on this romantic comedy. He praised Alia Bhatt’s ability to choose emotionally rich and entertaining stories and highlighted the film’s female-forward narrative, fresh writing, and humorous yet relatable characters. The movie will feature an original score by composer Ram Sampath.

Their collaboration with Red Chillies and Dharma Productions has further solidified their presence in the digital content space.

Prime Video’s lineup of Indian originals, including popular series like “Paatal Lok,” “Mirzapur,” and “The Family Man,” as well as acclaimed films like “Shershaah” and “Sardar Udham,” continues to attract a wide audience with diverse and compelling storytelling.
