Repeat Offender in Queens Carjacking Spree Faces Charges After Detective Shot

A violent repeat offender, Kevin Dubuisson, found himself in the spotlight after his alleged attempted carjacking spree in Queens led to an NYPD detective being shot and wounded by “friendly fire.” The 28-year-old, a four-time convicted felon, was seen smiling as he was escorted into an ambulance by cops from the 109th Precinct in Flushing, who were taking him to a hospital instead of criminal court to face the charges against him.

Dubuisson has been charged with robbery, assault, menacing, attempted robbery, and two counts of attempted assault following his one-man crime spree on Friday. The chaos began with three attempted carjackings in a matter of minutes, leaving a trail of fear and confusion in his wake.

It all started at a gas station on Parsons Boulevard near 20th Avenue, where Dubuisson allegedly tried to steal a car before being scared off by gas station employees. He then moved on to target a 32-year-old woman and a 52-year-old Uber driver in quick succession, prompting a police response.

As cops caught up with Dubuisson and attempted to block his path on 22nd Road, a confrontation ensued, culminating in three officers opening fire. Detective Corey Fisher, a 12-year police veteran assigned to the Queens North Warrants Squad, was shot in the hand and leg during the scuffle. Fortunately, Mayor Eric Adams assured the public that Fisher’s injuries were not life-threatening and that he was expected to make a full recovery.

Surveillance footage obtained by the Post shed light on Dubuisson’s actions leading up to the incident, revealing a pattern of reckless behavior that extended beyond the carjacking spree. Sources indicated that his rampage may have begun the previous evening when he allegedly stole two cars and crashed one into a construction site shortly after being arrested for jumping a subway turnstile.

While the motive behind Dubuisson’s actions remains unclear, the authorities are working diligently to ensure that justice is served and that the safety of the community is prioritized. As the investigation unfolds and Dubuisson awaits his day in court, the residents of Queens are left to ponder the consequences of such brazen criminal behavior in their midst.
