Allison Rawlings Named Head of FX Publicity and Communications

Former NBCUniversal communications executive Allison Rawlings has made a significant career move to Disney Entertainment, where she has been appointed as the new head of FX’s publicity and communications department. This announcement comes as she takes over from longtime FX publicity chief John Solberg, who recently announced his retirement after nearly three decades in the role. Rawlings will now report to FX chairman John Landgraf, with a dotted line report into Naomi Bulochnikov, Disney Entertainment Television & Direct-to-Consumer’s executive VP of communications.

In a statement regarding Rawlings’ appointment, Landgraf expressed his confidence in her ability to uphold FX’s commitment to supporting artists and journalists within the industry. He believes that Rawlings’ experience, creativity, and passion will contribute to the network’s continued success and integrity. Rawlings herself expressed excitement about joining the FX team, acknowledging the network’s reputation for exceptional entertainment.

Rawlings brings with her a wealth of experience, having most recently served as exec VP of communications for TV and streaming at NBCUniversal. During her time there, she oversaw communications strategy for NBC, Peacock, and six cable networks, including the successful repositioning of Peacock leading up to the 2024 Paris Olympics. Prior to her role at NBCU, Rawlings held the position of head of public relations at DreamWorks Animation, where she played a key role in the publicity for Oscar-nominated films such as “The Croods” and “How to Train Your Dragon 2.”

Before her time in the entertainment industry, Rawlings focused on nonprofit arts, holding positions such as head of communications for the Geffen Playhouse, brand strategy for Center Theatre Group, and publicity for the Hollywood Bowl. She was also part of the LA Philharmonic press team during the opening of Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall in 2003.

In her new role at FX, Rawlings will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and vision of the network’s publicity, communications, and creative services functions. This includes talent relations, awards, events, and consumer publicity campaigns for FX originals that are streamed on Hulu and Disney+, as well as aired on the FX and FXX cable channels. With her diverse background and proven track record in the industry, Rawlings is poised to make a significant impact on FX’s communications strategy moving forward.
