Alo store in DC targeted by masked retail theft ring, $20K worth of clothing stolen: police

A group of masked thieves are being sought by authorities in Washington, DC, after they targeted a luxury athletic apparel store and managed to steal approximately $20,000 worth of merchandise at the end of last month.

The incident occurred on June 30th, when six suspects entered an Alo store located in DC’s Georgetown neighborhood around 7:30 p.m., as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department. Surveillance footage captured the masked suspects casually strolling past what appeared to be a security guard stationed at the entrance before swiftly grabbing clothing items from racks and display counters.

After hastily collecting armfuls of merchandise, the suspects fled the store and made their getaway in a silver or gray Ford Edge with obscured license plates. Their escape route took them down Wisconsin Ave NW, and their whereabouts remain unknown.

The store itself estimated the total value of the stolen goods to be around $20,000, as per a police report obtained by Fox News Digital. Despite attempts to reach out for comment, Alo has not provided a response to the media outlet.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to FOX5 DC noted the absence of any police presence at the upscale store during the time of the theft, raising concerns about security measures in place to prevent such incidents.

The brazen nature of the theft, coupled with the coordinated effort of the masked suspects, has left both law enforcement and the retail establishment scrambling for answers. Authorities have released surveillance footage in hopes of identifying and apprehending the individuals responsible for the heist.

As investigations continue, residents and businesses in the area are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. The brazenness of the theft serves as a stark reminder of the importance of robust security measures in safeguarding businesses against potential criminal activity.
