Amazon introduces 1-hour and 3-hour delivery in U.S.

Amazon is taking its delivery service to the next level with the introduction of one- and three-hour delivery options in cities across the United States. This move is aimed at providing customers with even faster delivery times, positioning Amazon to compete with big-box stores, local drugstores, and other retailers that have been offering expedited delivery services in response to the increasing trend of online shopping.

According to GlobalData retail analyst Neil Saunders, Amazon’s new delivery options are particularly bad news for drugstores, as the e-commerce giant’s prices are often more competitive for everyday essentials like toothpaste and toilet paper.

Currently, one-hour delivery is available in select cities such as Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Nashville, Oklahoma City, and Washington, D.C., as well as in smaller cities like Des Moines, Boise, and American Fork. On the other hand, three-hour delivery is offered in over 2,000 large, midsize, and small cities, including suburbs like Cornwall, Harrah, and Arabi. Amazon plans to expand its accelerated delivery service to more cities in the near future.

A variety of products are eligible for expedited delivery, including household supplies, health and beauty items, over-the-counter medications, electronics, toys, and clothing. Prime members can enjoy one-hour delivery for $9.99 and three-hour delivery for $4.99, while non-Prime customers will pay $19.99 and $14.99, respectively. Prime members also have the option of same-day free delivery with their annual memberships.

In conclusion, Amazon’s new one- and three-hour delivery options are set to revolutionize the e-commerce industry, offering customers unprecedented speed and convenience in receiving their orders. With a wide range of eligible products and competitive pricing, Amazon is solidifying its position as a leader in the online retail space.
