Andrew Cuomo bolts for Knicks opener minutes after NYC mayoral debate – and sits next to Eric Adams
Frenemies Unite: Andrew Cuomo and Eric Adams Sit Courtside at Knicks Game
It was a sight to see at Madison Square Garden as former rivals turned friends, at least for a night. Independent NYC mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo made a quick dash from Long Island City to join incumbent mayor Eric Adams courtside after Wednesday night’s debate.

When Cuomo arrived at his seat, he warmly embraced Adams and even flashed a thumbs-up alongside the mayor.

Cuomo even took to social media to share his excitement, mentioning that he made it just in time for the second half of the game with the Knicks leading the Cavaliers 55-50.
In a surprising turn of events, Cuomo kicked off the debate with a spirited “Go Knicks, Go Knicks, Go Knicks” before engaging in discussions with Democratic frontrunner Zohran Mamdani and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa. Mamdani, who was on the receiving end of Cuomo’s attacks, also made a nod to the Knicks in his opening remarks.
“I know you’d rather be watching the Knicks,” Mamdani quipped.
