Boxing superstar Anthony Joshua has been discharged from a hospital in Nigeria following a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of two of his trainers.
Anthony, a former heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist, was released on Wednesday afternoon and will be continuing his recovery at home, as confirmed by Nigerian authorities.
After being under observation at a hospital in Lagos following the fatal crash on Monday, Anthony is now recuperating at home. The accident tragically took the lives of his strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, and his trainer, Latif Ayodele, who were also close friends of the boxer.
The crash occurred when the car Anthony was traveling in collided with a stationary truck on a busy expressway in Nigeria. This incident happened just over a week after Joshua’s victory in a boxing match against Jake Paul.
Despite his own injuries, Joshua made a visit to a funeral home in Lagos with his mother to pay his respects to his late friends, showing strength and resilience in the face of tragedy.
