Anti-ICE activists help migrant child rapist escape arrest in Colorado: officials
The incident in Denver, Colorado, where anti-ICE activists managed to help an illegal migrant escape arrest, has sparked controversy and concern. Jose Reyes Leon-Deras, a criminal alien from El Salvador wanted in Italy for child rape, was able to evade ICE agents thanks to a local group called Colorado Rapid Response. The group alerted Leon-Deras to the presence of law enforcement, allowing him to flee before he could be detained.
This interference by activist groups hinders ICE’s ability to keep communities safe and enforce immigration laws. ICE Colorado shared a Facebook post from Colorado Rapid Response, which detailed ICE’s presence in the area and the type of vehicle agents were using. Authorities are now urging the public to report any sightings of Leon-Deras to federal authorities but caution against approaching him directly.
The situation in Denver is reflective of the growing anti-ICE sentiment across the country, particularly since President Donald Trump’s return to office and his promise to ramp up deportations. In Portland, Oregon, activists attempted to block an ICE deportation facility, leading to clashes with law enforcement. Similarly, in Los Angeles, anti-ICE protesters caused property damage and violence, prompting the activation of the National Guard.
The recent “No Kings” protests, fueled by opposition to mass deportations, have highlighted the ongoing tensions surrounding immigration enforcement. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem revealed that 75% of illegal aliens arrested under the Trump administration have been charged with or convicted of a crime.
The incident in Denver serves as a stark reminder of the complex and divisive nature of immigration enforcement in the United States. As the debate rages on, it is essential to find a balance between enforcing immigration laws and respecting the rights of all individuals, regardless of their immigration status.
