Apple blocks Fortnite game on iPhones, video game company says

Apple has recently taken a stand against the popular online game Fortnite, blocking access to the game on iPhone devices in the United States and the European Union. According to Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, Apple has refused to allow the game to be released on the U.S. App Store and the Epic Games Store for iOS in the EU.
In response to this action, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney criticized Apple’s review process, stating that the tech giant should review all submitted apps promptly and adhere to their guidelines without using the review process as a tool to hinder competition or free speech. Sweeney emphasized the importance of fair and transparent app review processes in the industry.
This is not the first time that Epic Games and Apple have clashed over Fortnite. In 2020, Fortnite was removed from the App Store, leading to a legal battle between the two companies. Epic Games accused Apple of creating an illegal monopoly around the App Store, while Apple defended its policies. The Supreme Court eventually rejected Apple’s appeal in the antitrust case, but the Justice Department filed another antitrust lawsuit against Apple in March 2024.
Despite the ongoing legal disputes, Fortnite remains a popular game with millions of users worldwide. Launched in 2017, the game has gained a massive following and continues to attract players of all ages.
As the situation between Epic Games and Apple unfolds, the future of Fortnite on iOS devices remains uncertain. Players will have to wait and see if Apple lifts the ban on the game and allows it to return to the App Store. In the meantime, both companies are likely to continue their legal battles in court as they seek to resolve their differences.
