Apple hikes the cost of a monthly Apple TV+ subscription
The future of streaming and movies is constantly evolving, with major players like Apple making changes to their subscription services. Recently, Apple announced that they will be increasing the price of their Apple TV+ streaming service for U.S. customers. The monthly subscription cost will now be $12.99, up from $9.99, while the annual cost will remain at $99.99. This price hike will take effect for new subscribers starting on August 21, with existing customers seeing the change 30 days after their next service renewal date.
Apple TV+ offers a range of original content, including popular shows like “The Morning Show” and “Severance.” This price increase comes after Apple previously raised their subscription prices in October 2023, when the monthly cost went from $6.99 to $9.99 in the U.S. This move by Apple follows similar price hikes by other streaming services like Netflix and NBCUniversal’s Peacock earlier this year.
In January, Netflix raised the cost of their standard plan with ads from $6.99 to $7.99 a month. Similarly, Peacock increased their subscription rates in July, with the Premium Plus plan now costing $16.99 per month. These price adjustments reflect the competitive nature of the streaming industry, as companies continue to invest in original content and improve their services to attract and retain subscribers.
As the streaming landscape continues to evolve, it’s clear that consumers may need to adjust to changing prices and offerings from their favorite platforms. Stay tuned for more updates on the future of streaming and movies as the industry continues to innovate and adapt to meet the demands of viewers.
