Apple’s Surprise New Product Made me Double-take
The tech world was taken by surprise today as Apple unveiled a new product that no one saw coming in 2025. The product in question is the Apple iPhone Pocket, a collaboration with the Japanese design house Issey Miyake, known for their fashion and fragrances.
Described as being “inspired by the concept of ‘a piece of cloth’,” the iPhone Pocket is a unique way to store and carry your iPhone. Upon first glance, many at Tech Advisor immediately drew comparisons to the popular iPod sock from the early 2000s. However, the question remains – is there really a demand for this nostalgic tech fashion accessory to make a comeback?
The iPhone Pocket features a singular 3D-knitted construction and comes in a variety of colors. While the design may be eye-catching, concerns arise about its security and practicality. Some have raised doubts about the potential for theft due to its unconventional design.
As if the concept of the iPhone Pocket wasn’t perplexing enough, the pricing adds another layer of confusion. Starting at £139.95/$149.95 for the shorter strap option and going up to a staggering £219.95/$229.95 for the longer strap, the iPhone Pocket is priced similarly to the Apple Watch SE 3. Despite being labeled as a limited-edition release, the steep price tag may deter many potential buyers.
If you’re intrigued by the iPhone Pocket and willing to splurge on this unique accessory, it will be available for purchase starting on 14 November. Whether the iPhone Pocket will become a must-have fashion statement or fade into obscurity remains to be seen.
