The massive payout from the GoFundMe campaign was one of the largest individual fundraisers in the platform’s history, according to Weidenhofer. The funds have been placed into a trust managed by Foguth Financial Group to help Bambas plan for his newfound wealth. Weidenhofer first learned about Bambas through a follower’s comment and decided to visit the grocery store where he worked to meet him in person. Lexi Wallace, a Meijer shopper who tipped off Weidenhofer about Bambas, also joined his family at the ceremony and expressed her belief that he deserved the generous gift.
