‘As the World Turns’ Star Was 91
Eileen Fulton, beloved for her iconic role as Lisa Miller on the long-running CBS soap opera “As the World Turns,” passed away on Monday in Asheville, N.C. at the age of 91. Her death was confirmed through an obituary shared by her funeral home.
Fulton made her mark in the world of daytime soaps by portraying the feisty and unapologetic character of Lisa Miller from 1960 until the show’s conclusion in 2010. Known for her villainous persona and multiple marriages on the show, Fulton’s portrayal of Lisa contributed to the show’s success and popularity over the years.
Recognized for her outstanding contribution to the soap opera genre, Fulton was inducted into the Soap Opera Hall of Fame in 1998 and received a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004. Her dedication to her craft was evident as she juggled her role on “As the World Turns” with appearances in Broadway and off-Broadway productions.
In addition to her acting career, Fulton showcased her talents in other creative pursuits. She entertained audiences with her cabaret performances in New York and Los Angeles, authored two autobiographies, and even ventured into the world of mystery novel writing in the late 1980s.
After a successful career in the entertainment industry, Fulton retired from acting in 2019 and settled in Black Mountain, N.C. She is survived by her brother, Charles Furman McLarty, her niece, Katherine Morris, and her sister-in-law, Chris Page McLarty.
