Tragedy Strikes: 7-Year-Old Dies After Getting Head Stuck in Car Window

In a heartbreaking incident, a 7-year-old boy named Mazi Simmons tragically lost his life after getting his head stuck in a car window while his mother, Kandice Grace, was allegedly “passed out” in the front seat. The devastating event unfolded in April outside a home in Atlanta, where Mazi was found unconscious and not breathing with his head hanging out of the back window of the vehicle.

According to a warrant obtained by People magazine, Kandice Grace, 32, was discovered in the driver’s seat of the car, unresponsive, with two of her other children also present in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Following the tragic event, Kandice Grace was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to children. A blood and urine test revealed the presence of opioids and THC in her system, as stated in the warrant.

Reports indicate that a witness saw Grace stop by his home around 10 p.m. the night before the incident and decided to leave the children in the car as she did not want them to come inside. The following morning, the same witness observed Grace’s vehicle in the parking lot with Mazi’s head stuck out of the window.

Efforts were made to awaken Grace, and emergency services rushed the unconscious boy to the hospital, where he was tragically pronounced dead. Police later found Grace at a neighbor’s house with her youngest child, where she reportedly kept passing out while attempting to speak to investigators.

Currently, Kandice Grace is in custody at the Fulton County jail, facing the consequences of the heartbreaking incident that led to the loss of her young son’s life.
