Atresmedia Launches ’33 Days,’ ‘La Ruta: Vol. 2: Ibiza’
Atresplayer, a popular Spanish streaming platform, is stepping up its game with the release of two new original productions: “33 Days” and Season 2 of the hit series “La Ruta. Vol. 2: Ibiza.” These shows were recently unveiled at the San Sebastian Film Festival and the Iberseries & Platino Industria event in Madrid.
“33 Days” marks the television debut of well-known true-crime investigative journalist Carles Porta. Inspired by the real-life escape of two inmates from a prison in Lleida in 2001, the series follows the 33-day manhunt by Catalonia’s police force, the Mossos d’Esquadra. The focus is on the Mossos’ investigative team and the escapees as they face mounting pressure and criticism while navigating new challenges.
Starring José Manuel Poga and Julián Villagrán as the escapees, and Nausicaa Bonnín and Pau Durà as the officers, “33 Days” is a gripping six-episode series produced by Atresmedia in collaboration with Luminol Media, Goroka, and Lastor Media.
On the other hand, “La Ruta. Vol. 2: Ibiza” is the highly-anticipated second season of the award-winning series. Set to premiere on October 26, the show stars Àlex Monner in a dual role as Marc Ribó and his father, Manuel. The new season, comprising six episodes, explores two timelines – one set in 1996 and the other in the early 1970s, offering a sequel and a prequel to the first season.
Directed by Borja Soler and shot in the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands, “La Ruta. Vol. 2: Ibiza” delves into themes of legacy and family values, with a stellar cast including Carla Díaz, Marina Salas, and Irene Escolar.
Atresplayer has established itself as a key player in Spanish fiction, with a growing list of original series available exclusively to premium users. From popular shows like “Veneno” and “FoQ: La nueva generación” to upcoming releases such as “Mariliendre” and “Las hijas de la criada,” the platform continues to expand its offerings.
Both “La Ruta. Vol. 2: Ibiza” and “33 Days” will be showcased at Iberseries & Platino Industria, demonstrating Atresplayer’s commitment to delivering top-quality content to its audience. With a diverse range of original productions, the streaming platform is set to captivate viewers with compelling storytelling and engaging performances.
