AT&T Extends Data Breach Settlement Deadline to Dec. 18
The deadline for submitting claims for AT&T’s $177 million class action settlement has been extended to December 18, giving affected individuals more time to request compensation for the two major data breaches that occurred. This extension provides an opportunity for those whose information was compromised to gather necessary documentation and submit their claims before the deadline.
The settlement allows individuals impacted by the first breach, which occurred between 2019 and 2024, to claim up to $5,000 in losses. Those affected by the second breach, which took place from May to October 2022, can claim up to $2,500. If an individual suffered losses from both breaches, they can request a combined maximum of $7,500 in compensation.
The data breaches exposed sensitive customer information, including names, addresses, birthdates, account passcodes, Social Security numbers, and other personal details. The second breach involved hackers accessing an AT&T workspace hosted on a third-party cloud platform, compromising phone numbers associated with AT&T accounts and communication records.
To determine eligibility for compensation, individuals can visit the official settlement website and enter their Class Member ID or AT&T account details. The website will indicate whether their information was affected by the breaches and which compensation options they qualify for.
Claims can be filed online through the AT&T settlement website, where individuals must choose between submitting documentation of financial losses or opting for a no-proof cash payment. Supporting documentation such as receipts, bank statements, or credit-monitoring costs can result in higher compensation amounts, while the no-proof option provides a share of the net settlement funds.
After submitting a claim, payments will be distributed once final approval is granted by the court, which is expected on January 15. The distribution process may extend into 2026. For assistance with filing a claim, individuals can contact Kroll Settlement Administration at (833) 890-4930.
In conclusion, the deadline extension for the AT&T settlement offers affected individuals more time to seek compensation for the data breaches. By following the steps outlined on the settlement website, individuals can determine their eligibility and submit their claims for potential financial recovery.
