Austin Reaves could return Friday at Washington

After missing over a month due to a strained left calf, Lakers star guard Austin Reaves is on track to make his return to the court on Friday night in Washington, D.C. The Lakers have upgraded Reaves to questionable for their upcoming matchup against the Washington Wizards, marking a potential comeback for the talented guard.

Reaves, who last played in the second half of the Christmas Day loss to the Houston Rockets, was playing at an exceptional level before his injury. In the 23 games he participated in earlier in the season, Reaves averaged an impressive 26.6 points, 6.3 assists, and 5.2 rebounds. His absence has been felt by the Lakers, who went 9-8 in the games he missed since December 28.

The 27-year-old guard had previously dealt with a strained left calf injury that sidelined him for three games from December 14-20. Despite a brief return to play in late December, Reaves has been out of action since the Christmas Day game. The Lakers’ record stands at 28-18 as they prepare to face the Wizards, coming off a disappointing loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Luka Dončić, another star player for the Lakers, is also listed as questionable for the upcoming game due to left ankle soreness. Dončić took a hard fall early in the game against the Cavaliers but managed to finish the match. The Lakers will eagerly await the return of both Reaves and Dončić as they look to improve their record and make a push for the playoffs.

Lakers Coach JJ Redick expressed optimism about Reaves’ return, highlighting his impact on both ends of the floor. Redick praised Reaves’ defensive prowess, leadership, and ability to execute consistently. The Lakers have missed Reaves’ dynamic playstyle and his presence as a leader on the court. The team is looking forward to having him back in the lineup and reestablishing their winning ways.

As the Lakers prepare to face the Wizards, fans and teammates alike are excited for the potential return of Austin Reaves. His scoring ability, playmaking skills, and defensive tenacity have been sorely missed during his absence. With Reaves back in action, the Lakers hope to regain their winning momentum and solidify their position in the competitive Western Conference.
