Bang Up to the Elephant owner selling Cap Hill property for $3M

The Owner of Bang Up to the Elephant in Cap Hill Plans to Sell Real Estate and Focus on Other Pursuits

Kevin Delk, the owner of the vegan Caribbean restaurant Bang Up to the Elephant, is looking to sell the restaurant’s real estate in Cap Hill for $3 million. The reason behind this decision is simple – Delk wants to spend more time with his wife, who primarily works in New York City.

Despite the sale of the property, Bang Up to the Elephant has no plans to close its doors at 1310 N. Pearl St. In fact, the restaurant is expanding its offerings by introducing a new brunch menu and a cocktail bar called Sea Maiden in the back of the 6,250-square-foot space.

Delk had previously attempted to sell his other concept, Beatrice & Woodsley, successfully transitioning the 38 S. Broadway location to La Forêt. Now, he is seeking an investor to take over his landlord responsibilities for Bang Up to the Elephant.

If a sale does not go through, Delk still intends to move to New York, where he plans to explore other creative pursuits such as puppetry and writing horror novels. He will continue to be involved in the restaurant industry through consulting clients on the East Coast and Midwest.

Despite his plans to step back from restaurant operations, Delk remains open to new ideas for the future of Bang Up to the Elephant. He is willing to consider proposals from the staff, such as transforming the restaurant into a rock n’ roll venue, as long as they are thoughtful and original.

As the listing process progresses, Delk has received significant interest due to the prime location of the property in the densely populated Cap Hill neighborhood. Whether the restaurant changes hands or remains under Delk’s ownership, the future of Bang Up to the Elephant looks promising.
