Spain’s Filmax Secures International Rights to Third Installment of Hit Musical Comedy Franchise

Filmax, a renowned production company in Spain, has recently acquired the international rights to “Every Side of the Bed,” the highly anticipated third installment of the popular musical comedy franchise that first debuted in 2002.

This latest production, “Every Side of the Bed,” boasts an impressive lineup of production partners including Telecinco Cinema, Weekend Studio, Impala, Lightbox Animation Studios, and Todos Los Lados de la Cama AIE. With the support of Mediaset España, Netflix, and Mediterráneo Mediaset España Group, this film promises to deliver an entertaining and engaging experience for audiences worldwide.

The franchise’s original film, titled “The Other Side of the Bed” (“El otro lado de la cama”), was a massive success at the Spanish box office, becoming the highest-grossing film of its release year. Director Emilio Martínez Lázaro and writer David Serrano reunited in 2005 for the sequel, “The Two Sides of the Bed,” which received critical acclaim for its lively mix of music and romance.

“Every Side of the Bed,” set to release 20 years after the original film, marks the directorial debut of Samantha López Speranza, known for her work on the TV series “The Favorite 1922.” The screenplay, written by Carlos del Hoyo and Irene Bohoyo, explores the story of former lovers Javier and Carlota, who find themselves in a chaotic situation when their children decide to get married.

The film delves into themes of love, relationships, and generational differences, as the characters navigate the complexities of modern-day romance. With a talented cast led by Jan Buxaderas, Lucía Caraballo, Sergio Abelaira, and Leire Aguiar, “Every Side of the Bed” promises to captivate audiences with its high energy and humor.

The film is produced by industry veterans Álvaro Augustin, Ghislain Barrois, Tomás Cimadevilla, and Eduardo Sainz de Vicuña.
