Beyoncé and Emmanuel Lubezki Among 2025 Creative Arts Emmy Nominees to Watch  

Beyoncé Receives Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Directing for Variety Special

Beyoncé has recently been nominated for an Emmy in the outstanding directing for a variety special category for her Netflix special “Beyoncé Bowl.” The special also received two additional nominations, including outstanding variety special (Live). Co-directors of photography Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki and Bruno Delbonnel, prosthetics makeup artist Barrie Gower, and songwriter Nicholas Britell were among the industry heavyweights recognized in the Creative Arts Emmy nominations announcement.

Alfonso Cuaron’s go-to cinematographers Delbonnel and Lubezki were acknowledged for their work on the AppleTV+ limited series “Disclaimer.” Britell also secured a nomination for writing “We are the Ghor” (Planetary Anthem) from Disney+’s “Andor.”

Cinematographers behind the oner trend this season were also recognized, with Netflix’s limited series “Adolescence” using one continuous shot per episode to create intense emotion. Cinematographer Matthew Lewis worked with Philip Barantini to deliver the director’s signature one-shot style throughout the four episodes.

In another nomination, cinematographer Adam Newport-Berra was recognized for his work on “The Studio” episode 2, titled “The Oner,” where he worked closely with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to capture the essence of the scene.

“Bridgerton” costume designer John Glaser received a nod in the outstanding period costumes category for his work on the show, showcasing the evolution of Nicola Coughlan’s character through her wardrobe choices.

The series “Severance” received a total of 27 nominations, including outstanding production design and outstanding editing. Production designer Jeremy Hindle was acknowledged for his exceptional sets, particularly in the challenging episode “Woe’s Hollow.”

In the character voiceover/short form performer category, Julie Andrews and Maya Rudolph both received nominations for their outstanding work in “Bridgerton” and “Big Mouth” respectively.

Former President Barack Obama was also nominated for “Our Oceans” in the outstanding narrator category, alongside other notable names in the industry.

On the music side, composer and songwriter Robert Lopez, known for his EGOT status, landed a nomination for his work on “Agatha All Along” and “Down the Witches’ Road.”

The Creative Arts Emmys ceremony will take place over two nights in September, with an edited version of the event airing on FXX.
