Bill Gates has sparked controversy at the India AI Impact Summit this week, with his planned keynote address causing speculation and ultimately leading to his last-minute withdrawal.

The Microsoft co-founder is facing public backlash for his past association with Jeffrey Epstein, a deceased financier and sex offender, with recent revelations of their extensive communications in the Department of Justice’s file release.

The Gates Foundation India announced that Gates would not be speaking at the summit to ensure the event’s focus remains on its key priorities. He was replaced by another representative from the foundation.

A spokesperson for Gates denied any improper conduct related to Epstein, stating that Gates never visited Epstein’s island or engaged in any illegal activities associated with him.

The saga surrounding Gates’ attendance at the summit began with his name being removed from promotional materials, eventually leading to conflicting reports about his participation before the final decision was made.

Gates has been under scrutiny following the release of documents related to Epstein, including false allegations mentioned in a draft email. Gates has refuted these claims and clarified the nature of his interactions with Epstein.

The New Delhi AI Impact Summit has attracted top tech leaders and global figures, with the Gates Foundation’s investments in India focusing on health, development, and AI-related projects.
