Billy Porter Debuts New Boyfriend After Health Scare With Sepsis

Billy Porter has found love again with his new boyfriend, Eric Anderson. The couple made their romance official with a sweet Instagram post captioned “🤎🤎 #datenight,” shared on October 23. The photo showed Porter and Anderson holding hands and smiling while seated at a table in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Anderson, a fitness enthusiast with a passion for yoga and CrossFit, is based in Rehoboth Beach. Although the exact start of their relationship is unknown, Anderson first appeared on Porter’s social media in July when he posted a photo of them at a New York City Pride event.

In a heartfelt tribute for Porter’s birthday, Anderson expressed his gratitude for their time together, saying, “Not only celebrating birth, life, and longevity, but gratitude. Grateful you are here and to be here with you. Happy Birthday @theebillyporter I love you ❤️.”

However, their relationship faced a test in September when Porter was diagnosed with a serious case of sepsis, leading him to withdraw from his role in Broadway’s Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club. Despite doctors’ assurances of a full recovery, Porter’s health forced the show to close a month early on September 21.

Producer Adam Speers praised Porter for his exceptional performance as the Emcee in Cabaret and wished him a speedy recovery. Porter’s departure from the show marked the end of a successful run that had brought the beloved musical to New York audiences.

Before finding happiness with Anderson, Porter was previously married to Adam Smith, whom he wed in January 2017. In July 2023, after six years of marriage, Porter and Smith announced their separation in an amicable and mutual decision. The couple’s divorce was finalized in 2024, following Porter’s filing for divorce a month before their split became public.
