BMW recalling 145K cars due to fire risk from engine defect— second recall this week
BMW is conducting a recall of more than 145,000 vehicles in the United States due to a potential fire risk caused by an overheated starter, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Wednesday.
The affected vehicles include models from the 2020 340I, X7, and X5 series, according to the auto safety regulator.
BMW dealers will replace the engine starter free of charge, according to the NHTSA notice.
Earlier this week, the NHTSA announced that BMW would recall over 196,000 vehicles in the US due to an engine starter issue that could result in overheating and a short circuit.
