Bobby Berk Called Out by Queer Eye Star Karamo Brown for HGTV Show

Interior designer Bobby Berk, known for his role as one of the original hosts of Netflix’s “Queer Eye,” has made headlines with the announcement of his departure from the show after Season 8 in 2023. However, Berk is not stepping away from the spotlight just yet, as he is set to host his own show on HGTV.

The timing of Berk’s HGTV announcement raised some eyebrows, coming just a day after Netflix revealed that “Queer Eye” would be ending after its upcoming 10th season. Berk addressed the backlash he received over the timing of his announcement, revealing that even his former co-host Karamo Brown called him out on it.

In an interview with People, Berk explained that the announcement of his new show was planned in advance and was not a spur-of-the-moment decision. He stated that even Karamo Brown questioned the timing, to which Berk assured him that it was all pre-arranged.

Berk also expressed his surprise at Netflix’s decision to announce the end of “Queer Eye” less than 24 hours before his own announcement. Despite some criticism over the timing, Berk maintained that the show’s announcement date had been set and could not be easily changed.

Having co-hosted “Queer Eye” for eight seasons alongside Brown, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, and Jonathan Van Ness, Berk’s departure marks a significant change for the show. HGTV has already introduced interior design expert Jeremiah Brent as Berk’s replacement for the final two seasons of “Queer Eye.”

As filming for the 10th and final season of “Queer Eye” commences in Washington, D.C., fans can also look forward to Berk’s new show, “Junk or Jackpot?” which is set to premiere later this year. With Berk’s eye for design and charismatic personality, viewers can expect a fresh take on home renovation and interior styling on HGTV.
