Boulder attack updates: 6 injured in ‘act of terror’ with ‘makeshift flamethrower’

A shocking incident of terrorism unfolded on Sunday afternoon in Boulder, Colorado, as a suspect attacked a crowd of pro-Israel demonstrators with a makeshift flamethrower. The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman, shouted “Free Palestine” while carrying out the attack, which left six people hospitalized with burns, including one seriously injured.

The FBI is treating the incident as a targeted terror attack, with Deputy Director Dan Bongino stating that the attack was ideologically motivated violence. This comes amidst a wave of violence against the Jewish community, including a recent shooting of Israeli Embassy staffers in Washington, D.C.

The attack took place during a Run for Their Lives walk, organized to raise awareness about hostages in Gaza held by Hamas. The organization behind the event has canceled all upcoming events in light of the attack.

President Donald Trump has been briefed on the incident, with Colorado Governor Jared Polis condemning it as a heinous act of terror. Police responded to reports of a man with a weapon at the scene, where multiple victims suffered burns. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The incident underscores the escalating wave of violence targeting Jews and their supporters, with antisemitism task force head Leo Terrell describing it as part of a horrific trend. The attack occurred on the eve of a Jewish holiday, adding to the chilling nature of the incident.

As investigations continue, the community is reeling from the impact of this senseless act of violence. Authorities are working diligently to uncover the motives behind the attack and ensure justice is served for the victims. This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
