Boulder’s Sanitas Brewing closing due to ‘rising costs and lower sales of craft beer’

A beloved fixture in Boulder’s craft brewery scene will sadly be closing its doors in December after 12 years in operation. Sanitas Brewing Co. made the difficult decision to shut down due to the challenging economic landscape of the current beer market.

Sanitas Brewing Co. announced the closure of all three of its locations in Boulder, Englewood, and Lafayette, with the final day of business tentatively set for Dec. 20. The decision was driven by “rising costs and lower sales of craft beer,” according to a statement released by the brewery.

“The craft beer industry is currently facing significant challenges, and Sanitas, like many others, is feeling the impact. Closing was not the first choice for Sanitas, but it is the choice they have recently come to,” the statement explained.

Sanitas Brewing Co. first opened its doors in 2013 in a charming industrial space along train tracks in Boulder. Known for its spacious patio that welcomed dogs and beer enthusiasts alike, the brewery quickly became a local favorite. In the following years, Sanitas expanded with taprooms in Englewood and Lafayette, offering a unique experience to suburban communities.

CEO Michael Memsic shared his gratitude to the brewery’s loyal supporters, acknowledging the challenging yet rewarding journey they had embarked on together. “This ride has not been easy, but we had a lot of fun, and did something together that matters,” Memsic expressed in the announcement.
