Boy, 16, woman, 25, seriously hurt when shooting erupts in pool area of luxury LI apartment complex: cops

A violent incident occurred at a luxury Long Island apartment complex, leaving a 16-year-old boy and a 25-year-old woman seriously injured. The shooting took place at the Hawthorne Living Apartment Complex in Central Islip when a dispute between two groups escalated, resulting in gunfire. The teen, who was involved in the altercation, and the woman, an innocent bystander, were both struck by the bullets.

Both victims were rushed to nearby hospitals – the boy to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and the woman to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore. They were listed in serious condition following the shooting. Additionally, parked cars and an apartment door were also hit by the gunfire.

The groups involved in the altercation fled the scene before the police arrived, and as of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and contact the Suffolk County Police Department’s Third Squad or Crime Stoppers.

The Hawthorne Living Apartment Complex offers a tranquil setting with landscaped courtyard grounds and recently renovated units featuring balconies or patios. The apartments are equipped with spa-inspired bathrooms, complete with ceramic tile and deep-soaking tubs.
