Brazilian police arrest 2 suspects over bomb plot targeting Lady Gaga’s concert in Rio

Two suspects have been apprehended in connection with a planned bomb attack targeting Lady Gaga’s free concert on Copacabana Beach in Brazil, according to the Brazilian Civil Police. The individuals, one adult male arrested in Rio Grande do Sul and a teenager detained in Rio de Janeiro, are said to be fans of Lady Gaga and were allegedly plotting to use improvised explosives, including Molotov cocktails. Despite the authorities’ intervention, no explosives were discovered during the operation.
Authorities have revealed that the two suspects are associated with an online group that spreads hate speech and seeks to recruit other teenagers while promoting acts of violence. Additionally, one of the suspects was allegedly found in possession of child pornography.
The arrests were made as part of Operation Fake Monsters, a collaborative effort involving the Brazilian Justice Ministry, Federal Police, and digital intelligence services. The operation was designed to prevent any potential threats ahead of Lady Gaga’s highly anticipated performance on Saturday night, which attracted over two million fans to Rio’s iconic beachfront.
Despite the security concerns, the concert proceeded smoothly without any incidents. This remains a developing story, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
