Brazil’s Corinthians defeats Gotham FC 1-0 in Women’s Champions Cup semifinal

Corinthians Captain Gabi Zanotti Leads Team to Victory Over Gotham FC in Women’s Champions Cup Semifinals

LONDON — Corinthians captain Gabi Zanotti scored a late goal to secure a 1-0 victory against Gotham FC in the semifinals of the Women’s Champions Cup on Wednesday. Zanotti, at 40 years old, showcased her skill and experience with a well-placed shot that beat Gotham’s goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger in the 82nd minute.

The match was a tight affair with few clear-cut opportunities for either team. Despite Gotham’s efforts to break the deadlock in the second half, it was Zanotti’s decisive strike that ultimately made the difference.

Gotham, who earned their spot in the tournament by winning the CONCACAF Champions Cup, pushed hard in the closing stages of the game but were unable to find an equalizer. Corinthians’ solid defense and Zanotti’s clinical finish secured their spot in the final.

Corinthians, the reigning Copa Libertadores champions, will now await the winner of the second semifinal between Arsenal and African champions ASFAR of Rabat, Morocco. The final and third-place match are scheduled to take place on Sunday at Arsenal’s stadium.
