A tragic explosion at a wedding in Islamabad claims the lives of the bride, groom, and six others
ISLAMABAD — A devastating gas cylinder explosion rocked a wedding reception in Pakistan’s capital, resulting in the deaths of at least eight people, including the newlyweds, authorities revealed on Sunday.
The tragic incident occurred during the celebration at a residence, leading to a portion of the building collapsing, as reported by the Islamabad police. Seven individuals sustained injuries in the blast.
Law enforcement shared that the explosion took place in a residential neighborhood in the city center and assured the public of an ongoing investigation into the cause.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic loss of life and extended his sympathies to the families of the victims, as per an official statement. He urged healthcare authorities to provide optimal care for the injured and mandated a thorough inquiry into the incident.
Many households in Pakistan rely on LPG cylinders due to insufficient natural gas pressure, with such cylinders being associated with fatal accidents stemming from gas leaks. Authorities emphasized that investigations are currently underway.
