Brute on FBI’s ‘most wanted’ list for tossing cinderblock during anti-ICE riots finally busted at border
The recent arrest of Elpidio Reyna, the masked individual accused of throwing concrete blocks at federal agents during the violent anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, has brought a sense of relief to law enforcement authorities. Reyna was apprehended at the US-Mexico border by a brave US Border Patrol officer who was inside one of the vehicles targeted in the attack.
The 39-year-old Compton man had been on the FBI’s wanted list following the chaos that ensued on June 8 in Paramount. Reyna was captured on camera hurling concrete blocks at FBI vehicles as they passed by. After the images of him were circulated to track him down, Reyna fled to Mexico. However, he was eventually detained by Mexican authorities in Sinaloa and agreed to surrender to the FBI.
Upon his arrival at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, Reyna was taken into custody on a felony charge of assault on a federal officer. US Attorney Bill Essayli emphasized the message that individuals cannot hide behind masks or helmets when committing such acts of violence. Attorney General Pamela Bondi also praised Reyna’s arrest, stating that those who attack law enforcement officers will be found and held accountable.
The arrest of Elpidio Reyna serves as a reminder that law enforcement agencies are committed to upholding the law and ensuring the safety of officers. The images released by the FBI played a crucial role in locating and apprehending Reyna, demonstrating the effectiveness of collaboration between authorities and the public. The swift action taken in this case sends a clear message that acts of violence against federal officers will not be tolerated.
