Brute randomly sucker-punches on-duty NYPD school crossing guard in broad-daylight attack: cops

A shocking incident occurred last week in The Bronx, where an on-duty NYPD school crossing guard was randomly sucker-punched by an unknown assailant during the morning rush. The 46-year-old woman was carrying out her duties at the corner of Gerard Avenue and East 167th Street in the Concourse neighborhood around 8:15 a.m. on March 5 when the attacker struck her in the chest without uttering a word.

The perpetrator quickly fled the scene and remains at large as of Tuesday morning, according to authorities. The victim was promptly attended to by EMS workers for chest pain and later sought additional medical treatment on her own.

Surveillance footage released by the NYPD captured the suspect casually walking on the rainy sidewalk, sporting a black puffer jacket with the hood pulled up, black pants, and brown construction boots. Despite the clear visuals, the individual’s identity and motive for the unprovoked assault remain unknown.

Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information about the suspect to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or the Spanish hotline at 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips can also be submitted online through the Crime Stoppers website.

This appalling attack serves as a reminder of the risks faced by those who dedicate themselves to ensuring the safety of others in our communities. The NYPD is actively pursuing leads to apprehend the culprit and bring them to justice for their senseless act of violence against a public servant.
