Cartoonish Crook in Scooby-Doo Costume Breaks into Convenience Store in Alabama
Authorities in Alabama are on the hunt for a suspect who broke into a convenience store in Duncanville while dressed in a Scooby-Doo costume. The bizarre burglary took place at the Quick Stop on Highway 82, where the culprit was captured on security camera footage sporting the iconic full-body costume complete with doggy ears and a mask to conceal his face.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, triggering the store’s security alarm at around 3:45 a.m. However, the suspect managed to flee the scene before law enforcement could arrive. Despite the whimsical disguise, the crook made off with cash and change, leaving behind the snacks untouched, as humorously noted by the police in a Facebook post.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward by contacting the Tuscaloosa Police Department at 205-349-2121 or submitting an anonymous tip through their app.
The peculiar crime has sparked a wave of amusement online, with netizens cracking jokes inspired by the classic animated series. One commenter humorously suggested interviewing Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy to see if they were waiting for Scooby in the Mystery Machine.

Another individual quipped about the suspect invoking the famous catchphrase “if it weren’t for you meddling kids” when unmasked, while a playful suggestion was made for a shock collar instead of an ankle monitor. Reflecting on the underlying message of the Scooby-Doo series, one person remarked that the real monsters are often disguised as ordinary people.
The whimsical nature of the crime and the distinctive choice of attire have captured the attention of the public, turning a routine investigation into a lighthearted mystery reminiscent of a Saturday morning cartoon.
