Bystander, 38, knifed in back by driver who confronted him for recording road rage clash: cops, sources
Man Stabbed in the Back During Road Rage Clash in Midtown
Early Friday morning, a 38-year-old bystander was attacked by a driver after he started recording a road rage incident in Midtown, according to police and sources.
The victim began filming when he witnessed a Jeep Grand Cherokee driver engaging in a dispute with another motorist at the intersection of West 49th Street and Seventh Avenue around 6 a.m., authorities and sources reported.
Approaching the bystander, the SUV driver aggressively asked, “What do you want? Do you want something?” sources stated.
Feeling threatened, the victim pushed the driver in self-defense after he got in his face, as per the sources.
Following the altercation, the driver pulled out a blade and swung it at the videographer, causing a laceration on his back right rib cage, according to reports.
Although the victim received treatment at the scene, he declined further medical attention, as confirmed by the police.
The suspect, described as wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans, fled the scene in his white Jeep and had not been apprehended as of Friday evening, authorities stated.
Additionally, the other motorist involved in the initial dispute did not file a police report, as per the sources.
