Caitlin Clark rookie card sells for whopping $317K at auction

Caitlin Clark’s Rookie Card Sells for a Whopping $317,000 at Auction

Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever superstar, may be sidelined due to a groin injury, but her presence is still making waves in the world of sports memorabilia. Recently, Clark’s 2024 Panini Flawless Logowoman rookie card, a one-of-one edition featuring an autographed jersey patch, sold for an astonishing $317,000 at auction on Saturday.

The auction, which started at a modest $50,000 on July 11, saw a flurry of activity with 21 bids driving the price up to over six times the original amount. Within just over 40 minutes of the initial bid, the price doubled to $100,000. The bidding continued to escalate, reaching $180,000 within two days and eventually peaking at $260,000 by August 9.

This particular card is one of three Clark Logowoman cards released through Panini America’s 2024 Rookie Royalty WNBA collection. It follows the success of a record-breaking $660,000 auction for Clark’s Flawless Logowoman 1/1 at Fanatics Collect last month, which is now the highest-selling women’s sports card at public auction.

Despite being limited to just 13 appearances this season due to injuries, Clark has maintained impressive stats, averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.5 turnovers per contest. However, her shooting percentages have taken a slight dip, with a 36.7% field goal percentage and a 27.9% 3-point shooting percentage.

While Clark’s return date remains uncertain, the Indiana Fever have managed to stay competitive in the league, currently sitting at No. 5 in the WNBA with a record of 18-14. As they await Clark’s return, the team continues to push forward in the playoff race, showcasing their resilience and determination on the court.
