California cops arrest teen, man in killing of beloved 14-year-old high school football star

The tragic shooting death of 14-year-old high school football star Jeremy “Tank” Rosales in Victorville, California has left the community shaken. Police have arrested Abel Ramirez, 27, and a 16-year-old boy in connection with the senseless killing.

Jeremy, a beloved student athlete at Team Elite Sports Academy and Oak Hills High School, was found shot to death on Glen Canyon Lane and Burwood Avenue on the night of Jan. 16, 2026. Authorities were called to the scene around 8:21 p.m. and found Jeremy alive but critically wounded. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Ramirez and the teenage suspect were apprehended and now face murder charges. The teenager is being held at High Desert Juvenile Detention Center, while Ramirez is locked up at High Desert Detention Center on $1 million bail.
