California tree trimmer dead in freak impalement accident
A tragic incident occurred in Canoga Park, California, where a tree trimmer with 20 years of experience lost his life in a freak accident. The victim, identified as Rogelio Cruz, fell 35 feet and landed on an iron fence while working on a job along Canoga Avenue and Valerio Street.
According to reports from NBC Los Angeles, Cruz’s rope became loose from the palm tree he was trimming, leading to his fatal fall. The 48-year-old tree trimmer was a seasoned professional who had been working in the industry for two decades and was employed by a company owned and operated by his family.
Cruz’s two brothers were also present at the job site when the tragic accident occurred, leaving them and their family members devastated. Cruz’s cousin, Richard Areloa, expressed disbelief and sorrow over the unexpected turn of events, stating that it was not a typical day for Cruz, who usually completed his job and returned home safely.
The aftermath of the incident was captured by news helicopters, showing Cruz’s body covered by a white sheet on the fence. A yellow tarp was set up to shield passersby from the graphic scene as emergency responders worked at the site. Despite their efforts, Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 3:20 p.m.
