HUGO, Okla. — A beloved animal handler met a tragic end at Growler Pines Tiger Preserve in southeastern Oklahoma. The preserve announced on Sunday that Ryan Easley lost his life in a heartbreaking incident involving a tiger under his care.

The statement released by Growler Pines Tiger Preserve revealed that the fatal accident occurred on Saturday at the property located near Hugo, not too far from the Texas border. The organization described the event as “an accident” without providing further details.

In a heartfelt message shared on their Facebook page, the preserve expressed the deep sorrow over the loss of Ryan Easley. They highlighted his profound connection with the animals, emphasizing that he viewed them not just as creatures but as sentient beings deserving of love and respect.

As a result of the tragedy, all tours at the preserve have been immediately suspended until further notice, as mentioned in the statement.
