Carly Waddell Opens Up About Dating After Ending Engagement
Carly Waddell, known for her appearance on season 19 of The Bachelor, recently opened up about her struggles with dating after ending her engagement to lawyer Todd Allen Tressler. In a candid Instagram video, the 40-year-old shared a humorous yet relatable dating mishap.
During a night out with her brother, sister-in-law, and a friend, Waddell found herself drawn to a “cute guy” across the room. Feeling a connection, she made the bold move to write down her phone number on a piece of paper and planned to give it to him. However, she decided to leave off her name to avoid being looked up online.
After mustering up the courage to approach the guy’s table, Waddell was disappointed to find that he was not there. Feeling embarrassed and flustered, she admitted to running out of the bar instead of facing the situation head-on. Reflecting on the experience, she humorously compared it to a middle-schooler’s nervousness around a crush.
Despite the awkward encounter, Waddell’s sister-in-law later returned to the bar to give the guy her number. Unfortunately, he never called, leading Waddell to jokingly acknowledge that at least she made an effort.
This dating misadventure comes on the heels of Waddell’s announcement that she had called off her engagement to Tressler. In an earlier Instagram video, she revealed that the decision was not made lightly and that they were now living in a new city. Despite the challenges of dating as a divorced parent, Waddell expressed feeling at peace with her choice and prioritizing her children’s happiness.
Waddell was previously married to Evan Bass, another Bachelor in Paradise alum, from 2017 to 2020. The former couple shares two children, daughter Bella and son Charlie.
Navigating the world of dating after a breakup can be daunting, especially for those with children. Waddell’s candid and relatable dating story serves as a reminder that it’s okay to take baby steps and embrace the journey, no matter how awkward or challenging it may be.
