Carnival cruise passenger from US reported missing after leaving ship early in Bonaire
A Carnival cruise passenger, Jessica Collins, made headlines recently after she went missing during a stop in the Caribbean. The 47-year-old American left the ship, Carnival Horizon, in Bonaire on September 17 with her luggage and cryptically told the crew that she “did not want to be found.”
Authorities in Bonaire, along with the cruise line, launched an investigation to locate Collins. Surveillance footage captured her exiting the ship with a grey backpack, sporting a Hawaiian T-shirt and cargo shorts.
It was revealed that Collins had initially disembarked the ship on September 13 with all her belongings in a backpack. She left cash behind for the stateroom attendant along with a thank you note. However, when she failed to return, the ship’s Care Team tried to reach out to her. Collins responded to their messages, stating that she was safe and did not wish to be contacted or found again.
Carnival Cruise stated that they were collaborating with local authorities in the search for Collins. They noted that her actions seemed deliberate, indicating a desire to be alone and independent.
Reports from the Bonaire government revealed that Collins had left most of her luggage behind but had taken her identification with her. The luxurious eight-day cruise through the Southern Caribbean had set sail from Miami on September 13. Interestingly, the same ship departed from Miami for a new journey through the Western Caribbean on Sunday, according to CruiseMapper.
The mysterious disappearance of Jessica Collins has left many puzzled, with speculations about her motives and whereabouts. The search for her continues as authorities work to unravel the mystery surrounding her sudden departure during a seemingly routine cruise stop.
